Denmark: Postdoctoral Position in Signaling and Stem Cell Biology, BRIC, University of Copenhagen
Postdoctoral Position in Signaling and Stem Cell Biology, BRIC, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
The research of the Hansen Group is focused on signaling pathways controlling cell proliferation and differentiation through post-translational modifications of histones, transcription factors and other chromatin associated proteins.
Our group currently consists of 8 members: 3 postdoc, 3 PhD students, 1 technician and the group leader. We are using mammalian cellular systems and mouse models to investigate basic molecular mechanisms for gene regulation in response to diverse cellular stimuli such as growth factor signaling, stress responses and factors that trigger cellular differentiation. We are particularly interested in how epigenetic marks are modulated and maintained during cell proliferation and differentiation and how cellular stress affects stem cell aging.
Techniques such as chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and ChIP sequencing, genomically integrated reporter systems, siRNA (and shRNA) based techniques, protein affinity purification and mass spectrometry, cell proliferation and differentiation assays, DNA microarrays, quantitative PCR, confocal fluorescence microscopy are some of the many techniques that are routinely used in our group.
We expect you to be a highly motivated and interacting person with a PhD in the Life Sciences who is willing to share your knowledge and expertise with the group. A candidate with experience in mammalian cell biology and in particular cellular signaling and/or differentiation models will be preferred.
The employment will be at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located in the center of Copenhagen close to the Royal Hospital and the Panum Institute. We have new modern laboratory facilities and instruments including core facilities that are shared between the 15 research groups. We have weekly journal clubs, data clubs and seminars with invited speakers as well as our own PhD programme with the PhD school MoMeD and the centre of excellence, Centre for Epigenetics.
