Canada: Postdoctoral in Theoretical Ecology at McGill University


Professor Michel Loreau is seeking a postdocto work on theoretical aspects of the relationship between biodiversityand ecosystem functioning in food webs. The successful candidate isexpected to develop theoretical models within one of two projects:

  • a project on the relationships between biodiversity, food web structure and ecosystem functioning, with a focus on tropical savanna and freshwater lake ecosystems; or
  • a project on the role of trait-mediated interactions in the dynamics and functioning of terrestrial food webs. Both projects involve international collaborations with experimental ecologists


Theposition requires some experience or training in theoretical ormathematical ecology. It is available for two years to researchers whoobtained their Ph.D. during the last five years. Annual salary will be$38,000 with provincial tax exemption for non-residents. The postdocwill be based at McGill University, where ecology has expandedconsiderably in recent years, with a special strength in theoreticaland experimental ecology.
