SAUVE SCHOLARS is an opportunity for highly-motivated people, underthirty, of demonstrated leadership potential, to come to Montrealfor eight months to research, reflect, question and enlarge upontheir understanding of the state of the world and their roles ineffecting positive change.
McGill University, amongst the most international of North Americanuniversities, represented on campus by over 150 countries, is thehome of the Program. McGill opens the doors of all its courses andresources to the SCHOLARS.
The Program itself, in addition, will provide intimate weeklyseminars with eminent journalists, political figures and innovatorsin business, academia and the arts.
SCHOLARS will be awarded a stipend valued at $30,000 Canadian fortravel, tuition, housing, meals and supplies. In addition, theProgram provides the costs of group excursions to academically andculturally stimulating sites in the northeastern United States, aswell as adventure trips in Canada’s dramatic north.
SCHOLARS will be encouraged to produce material, during orimmediately after their residence, to be published on the SAUVESCHOLAR website, or in a hard-copy version, for world-widedissemination and discussion. These works may take the form ofwritten text, photo essays or videos.
As the body of work of the SCHOLARS grows, the website will become aplatform for the broadest range of critical discourse amongst theemerging leaders and an ever-widening audience. The electronic mediamake possible creative linkages with other web vehicles for societalinnovation and change.
It will be fun, it will be challenging, to be in an intellectuallystimulating environment, rich in human and physical resources. Butwithout the pressures of exams, a job, deadlines and financialresponsibility. With networks enriched and expanded, horizonssharpened and refocused, it will be a year of incredible personalgrowth.
