USA: Dag Hammarskojold Fellowships to Cover the UN’s 61st General Assembly

The United Nations is currently offering four fellowships forjournalists from developing countries in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europeand Latin America to cover its 61st General Assembly.
Fellows will report from New York from early September to earlyNovember for their home media, print or broadcasted. The DagHammarskjold fellowships include airfare, accommodation, per diemexpenses and health insurance.
There are three fellowships for young journalists between age 25 and35. They must be full-time professionals working at a recognized printor broadcast media organization and capable to work in English.
A fellowship is also available for a distinguished journalist, editorsin chief, deputy editors in chief, senior broadcast producers andothers. Aged 35-45, applicants must have 10-15 years of journalismexperience with at least three in their current position. An excellentcommand of written and spoken English is required.
The fellow will be expected to work on and complete an in-depthproject or projects during the course of the fellowship.
Deadline is 17 April 2006. The final selection will be made in May.
