Economic Essay Contest for University Students
The Korea Times will launch the first English Economic Essay Contest for Korean and foreignuniversity students as part of steps to help students better understand the Korean economy andglobal views on the Korean economy.
The contest is to be conducted under the sponsorship of the Woori Bank. Applicants are required to submit their views in English in less than 1,200 words.
For Korean students, the subject is the role of foreign capital in the Korean economy.For international students, both in Korea and overseas, the subject is the weaknesses and strengths of the Korean economy.
The deadline for submissions is Oct. 10. Applicants are required to submit their essays by e-mail to lim@koreatimes.co.kr. between Oct. 1-10.
The winners will be announced on Oct. 20 and the awarding ceremony will be held in early November on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of The Korea Times.
The Best Awards will be given to one Korean and one international contestant.
The Korean winner will be given a round-trip ticket (economy class) between Seoul and Los Angeles. Overseas winners will receive a round-trip ticket from their hometown to Seoul.The runner-up will be given a latest Korean-made notebook computer and a plaque.
Winners of the three Commendation Awards will be given a round-trip ticket between Seoul and Cheju Island and a plaque.
The essays by the winners will be printed in The Korea Times on November 1, the 55th anniversary of the founding of the nation’s oldest and independent English daily.
