Style guidelines:
Thejudges will look for clarity, rigor, and eloquence. Papers need not betechnical or demonstrate hyper-specialized scholarship, although theyshould be serious in content, tone, and style. Papers may be footnoted, but judges aren't looking for the paper with the most footnotes.(Foreign students: please submit your essay in English.)
Judging Standards:
Allidentifying information is removed from the essays such that they arejudged blindly. Each essay is read and ranked by each of the threeacademicians who comprise the panel of judges. After each paper hasbeen ranked, the judges' results are combined to determine which paperhas the highest average ranking.
